Waringstown Historical Society (WHS) has this week launched its programme for 2014.  The group began meeting last year and has gone from strength to strength showing that an interest in local history is alive and well in Waringstown.

WHS was established by Waringstown Community Development Association to bring people together through a shared passion for local history.  The new programme sets out a full programme of meetings across a wide range of topics.  A copy of the programme and details of how to join the group can be obtained from www.waringstown.org

A spokesperson for Waringstown Community Development Association said, "We are delighted by the interest shown in this project by the local community.  The first meeting of 2014 will be on 9 January at 7.30pm in Waringstown Cricket Club.  The topic will be 'The Canals of Northern Ireland'.  Membership is £12 for the year and all are welcome.  Come along and get
involved!"
